Data Security Manager
Business Challenge
- The company had a distributed and siloed IT and data infrastructure that was spread across multi-cloud, restaurant-level data centers, and third-party vendor environments and utilized a vast array of operating systems, database tools, and software libraries, including legacy technologies such as POS Ready 2009, SQL Lite, SQL Express, MySQL and mobile platforms such as Android/iOS.
- The siloed data infrastructure made managing data and security a complex exercise. The company wanted a Key Management System (KMS) and Encryption solution that could be implemented across its chain of restaurants with much-needed granular and centralized data security across all stacks of the infrastructure.
- With an ever-increasing requirement to store data across different clouds, databases, storage options and locations, the company had a monumental challenge when it came to securing this data. The company lacked centralized visibility, ability to identify gaps and correlate all the data to detect possible threats.

Fortanix Solutions
The signup and seamless deployment of the Fortanix Data Security Manager SaaS (DSM SaaS) service helped the customer quickly and easily onboard some of their restaurants spread across different locations. A test environment was created to understand the ability of the service to connect to the larger IT ecosystem, and other capabilities like scalability and elasticity. They were also testing other vendors to do a feature-to- feature comparison and be able to choose the solution that was most suited to their requirements.

Single, integrated platform leveraging a globally distributed architecture across 15 data centers. For each region (Americas, EU, UK, and so on), organization can be served from 3 physically isolated data centers, or “availability zones”, to ensure constant uptime and reduce latency.
Secure Private Keys and Certificates
Fortanix ensures the security of the private keys associated with certificates in the cloud, on-premises or as a hybrid solution by encrypting and protecting these private keys using FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certified HSM.
